"REMEMBER who you truly are." "With empathy comes with great knowledge."
These are the core messages of the new single entitled "Sige Siga" recently released by Davao-based band Thea.
The band's lead vocalist and ukuleleist talks about how she came up with the song and what are here takeaways during the present pandemic.
Q: Can you tell us about how you came up with this song and what/who are your inspirations?
Thea: Yes, I wrote the whole song. It took me less than a day to finish the whole song. I am not sure why I wrote it but perhaps it had something to do with what is happening to the world these days like the social issues we are facing or maybe there's more to that like how much I wanted in my heart to understand what is the true meaning of empathy. The next day, we arranged it then after a few months we did the recording. We were so excited to release the song.
Q: How long do you usually finish writing a song?
Thea: Well, it depends really if I'm in the zone.
Q: What message do you want to spread with this new single?
Thea: It is more on remembering who you truly are. With empathy comes with great knowledge.
Q: How are you coping with the present health crisis, how does it affect you as an artist?
Thea: These times are the best times to learn and grow. So while in quarantine I was able to explore music production, practice more and writing new songs. If you think about it the isolation isn't that bad at all although I miss the outside world.
Q: Message to all your fans, especially during these trying times.
Thea: No matter what the crisis may bring, we are all in this together. Let us all set aside our differences and help each other so that we can conquer this chaos.
Thea added that the band will also be releasing another new single next month.
