KAI Sotto has finally broken his silence and confirmed that he is making the jump to the NBA G-League.

Sotto, a towering 7-foot-2 center who used to play for Ateneo de Manila University, announced this in a one-minute clip that was posted on his social media pages on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

The 18-year old explained that this opportunity will allow him to take a step closer towards his dream of one day making it to the NBA. If successful, that will make him the first homegrown Filipino to do so.

“I spent the past year here in the States improving my skills, building my body, and gaining the confidence to play against the best basketball players around the world. Now I have to take the next big step towards my NBA dream. And I’m very proud and excited to announce that I will be joining the NBA G-League select team,” Sotto said.

“My wish is that you continue to support me, pray for me, and hope for my success,” he added.

Sotto joins top high school recruits Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, and Fil-American high-flyer Jalen Green in the select team in the NBA G-League. He is the first international prospect to make the leap to the trail-blazing pathway program.

“I will be playing with some of the very best, and I’m committed to work on developing my game in a much bigger stage,” he said.

Sotto, the son of former PBA player Ervin Sotto, moved to the United States last year and has since been working out at the The Skills Factory in Atlanta.
