THE Angeles City Government is set to provide healthcare to 16 rescued homeless individuals with mental health problems.

According to Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., the individuals were rescued on May 12 and were immediately transferred to the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital (MMWGH) for further treatment.

Lazatin said the city will shoulder the monthly payment for their health services and treatment.

Upon the order of Lazatin, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas instructed members of Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary (ACTA), City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), and Angeles City Barangay Outreach to transfer the 16 mentally-challenged individuals to the mental hospital in Mariveles on May 13.

Lazatin allotted P4 million, under the Gender and Development fund, for the Integrated Mental Health Services for Persons with Mental and Psychological Challenges to give assistance to patients for their medical treatment.

It can be recalled that Lazatin on March 9 signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the MMWGH to provide mental health services to persons with mental and psychological challenges.
