Mayoralty bet launches campaign differently

LIBERAL Party (LP) mayoralty candidate Iloilo City Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog launched his campaign Friday in a unique way.

Instead of having his sortie in the main streets in the city, Mabilog had his and the local LPs in a seaside urban poor barangay with the boodle fight as one of its highlights.

A 500-meter-long table where an open boodle fight of rice, fried eggs, tomatoes, sardines and dried fishes were laid out as breakfast for more than 5,000 people and supporters who attended a mass for Mabilog and his group.

Mabilog said it was the decision of his barangay supporters to hold the campaign start in Barangay Pala-pala Zone 2 and be with the people who longed to see him and his group.

With the LP city frontrunner were City Councilor Julienne Baronda running for vice mayor and councilor bets Rodel Fullon Agado, Joshua Alim, RLeonie Gerochi, Linda Liberiaga, Jory Porquia, Plaridel Nava, and reelectionist Lyndon Acap.

Mabilog said his bid in winning the Iloilo City Hall lies on the aspiration of the urban poor in having service-oriented city officials with honest and strong political will to enforce development changes aimed to benefit both poor and rich constituents of the city.

Pala-pala Zone 2 Barangay Captain Myrna Rey admitted that it is the first time a big event happened in her barangay referring to the Mabilog campaign launching. She said barangay residents welcomed the Mabilog move and they are willing to help him. (LCP)
