Pangan: Honor among thieves

SO MUCH has happened inside Fiesta Communities Tabun Mabalacat City Homeowners Association, Inc. (FCTMCHAI).

In order to satisfy the desire of a lady board member, a special election was held among the officers and Alfredo S. Ramos was elected President to replace me as I was the subject of a resign call by this bitter lady director.

She, along with two lady officers, tendered their irrevocable resignations effective April 13, 2020, so former vice president Dennis J. dela Cruz who happens to be an active member of the PHP, was reinstalled again the vice president of the Association.

I did not resign but instead I was elected board secretary, proof that I still enjoyed the trust of the other members of the Board of Directors of the Association.

Other elected officers, after the resignations of the three disgruntled lady officers were: Cesar M. Pangan II as treasurer; Rodolfo D. Monis as Auditor, who happens to be a former vice president.

The results of the election were forwarded via e-mail to the Regional Office of the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board for its records and acknowledgement.

It is this office where we refer matters and concerns about the Association, but due to Covid-19, we are still awaiting its acknowledgement of the results of our election.

Now, here comes the problem of fund handling. In a belated turn over of responsibilities, it was found out by the now auditor Monis that there is a shortage and records of some transactions are not in order: some donations of homeowners ranging from P10,000 to P30,000 are not properly accounted for and acknowledge nor was there official receipts. The funds, obviously, were pocketed by the previous auditor and her cohorts.

The current board willl now decide whether to refer the anomaly to its grievance committee and then to the barangay office for acting on the brewing case of shortage.

These sourgraping lady BODs who tendered their irrevocable resignations led by a feisty lady who relies on the power of authorities in the city hall, must be held accountable for the anomaly. Only a case for Estafa would calm the storm, as the other directors would say. I agree to that, to put an end to the arrogance of the former lady auditor who pranced about claiming to be spotless yet the ensuing events proved otherwise.

Such is the colorful happening at FCTMCHAI. A president who held office only for six months and a new one replacing him. Previously, a lady president held office from February 2019 to November 2019 when I replaced her last November 2, 2019. I was replaced last May 2, 2020.
