ILOILO City Government will replicate practices of coastal town of Concepcion, Iloilo relative to strict protocols on fishing boats on anchor at port in the metropolis.
The move seeks to contain the spread of the new virus that causes that coronavirus disease (Covid-19) after at least three confirmed cases involving the crew of a fishing vessel docked at Iloilo Fish Port Complex in Barangay Tanza, City Proper.
Mayor Jerry Treñas tasked Covid-19 focal person Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna to be briefed by Concepcion Mayor Dr. Raul Banias regarding public health safety at fish port.
"I've heard they have put in place proper protocols in Concepcion. We will follow it here in Iloilo Fishing Port. We will also meet with manager and representatives of fishing boat operators and brokers to lay down protocols," Treñas said.
"The protocol should allow the cargoes to be unloaded but the crew should stay onboard," he added.
The mayor noted the fishing boat owned by an Ilonggo, which is based in the city, had traveled to Navotas, Manila.
"We have attended to them. The positive patients are now quarantined at St. Therese Hospital which serves as isolation facility. The rest are quarantined at Jubilee Hall," said Treñas. (PR)
