Prayer for First Gentleman’s recovery sought

LUBAO -- Former board member and administration’s gubernatorial bet Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda has urged Kapampangans Friday to pray for the speedy recovery of First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo.

Pineda also asked her Kabalens to pray for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to weather the “crisis” she is experiencing at the moment.

As of Friday, the First Gentleman is still in an unstable condition, a reason President Arroyo apparently failed to make it to the opening salvo of the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD coalition at San Agustin Church here.

A 7 a.m. mass started the party’s campaign for the coalition led by local stalwarts, including Pineda and Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao.

Pineda told local newsmen that it was unfortunate the opening salvo was tainted with worries about the First Gentleman’s health.

“Maybe this is what I want to emphasize this time. Let us pray for the First Gentleman’s speedy recovery and for President Arroyo. Masyado na siyang maraming tinatanggap na batikos habang ang dami niyang itinulong sa probinsiya,” Pineda said.

She added that she is also praying for orderly elections and not a “repetition” of the previous polls.

“If I get the opportunity to serve our Kabalens, I would want to simply focus seriously on health programs and the uplifting of our hospitals," Pineda said.

"Kung walang sakit ang mga magulang makakapag-trabaho sila at mapapaaral nila ang kanilang mga anak. Everything follows, maso-solve na rin ang problema natin sa education and livelihood,” she added.
