OFFICIALS and employees of the local government of Candaba who are in the frontline in the battle against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) underwent rapid testing for the disease.
At least 50 frontliners including Mayor Rene Maglanque, Municipal Council members and personnel of Municipal Health Office and Rural Health units were first to undergo the said testing on Monday morning.
According to Municipal Health Officer Dra. Preny Manimbo, the local government purchased about 150 rapid testing kits to check the frontliners’ condition.
During the first day of testing, all officials and employees tested negative for the highly-contagious virus and were cleared to perform their duties.
In the following days, Manimbo said personnel of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Social Welfare and Development offices, and other frontliners from the local government will aslo be tested.
“Since they regularly interact with the people, they are more exposed to the virus. By testing them, we can protect not only their health, but also of those individuals who might have contact with them while on duty,” she said.
Mayor Rene Maglanque, for his part, urge his fellow public servants in the frontlines to submit themselves to the test to ensure their health and the safety of the people they interact with.
He added that obedience and cooperation of Candabeños has led to the municipality having no active cases in the past six weeks.
“Let us continue to abide by the rules and continue to practice personal hygiene and safety standards so we can finally defeat this virus,” he said.
