Magalang’s suspected Covid-19 patient dies

THE local government of Magalang has reported the death of a suspected coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patient or person under investigation from Barangay Santa Maria.

The patient, who was rushed to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Angeles City due to acute respiratory and heart failure on May 16, died on Monday, May 18.

Swab testing was done on May 17 after the patient’s X-Ray results showed that he was suffering from pneumonia.

The local government assisted the family in the cremation of the patient’s remains in compliance with DILG Memorandum Circular Number 2020-063 or the Interim Guidelines on the Management of Human Remains for Patients Under Investigation and Confirmed Covid 19 Cases.

The LGU assured that all close contact of the mortality will undergo 14-day quarantine and monitored by the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT).

The municipal government has recorded at least four deaths involving PUIs.

Mayor Romy Pecson directed the Municipal Health Office to and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office to assist the patient’s relatives who are now under quarantine.

The LGU is now monitoring some 66 suspected patients as of May 18. It has recorded three confirmed cases of Covid-19 with one death.
