Man nabbed after stabbing 2 drinking buddies in Maasin City

A MAN was arrested in Maasin City, Southern Leyte after he allegedly stabbed his two drinking partners Tuesday afternoon, April 19.

The victims were identified as Russel Galeon Calapre, 33, and Daniel Orag Galeon, 43, both married, jobless, and residents of Barangay Combado, Maasin.

Police identified the suspect as Eric Uy Mendoza, 49, married, and a resident of Barangay Mantahan.

The victims were found lying on the ground and bathed in their own blood when police arrived, report said.

Responding personnel from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Red Cross Medical Team brought the victims to the nearby hospital.

Initial investigation disclosed the victims joined the drinking session at the suspect’s vicinity.

Moments later, the suspect and the victims argued, causing trouble.

Police said the suspect went to their kitchen to get a knife and stabbed the victims.

Calapre sustained abdominal stab wound, while Galeon sustained two stab wounds at his left leg.

Maasin City Police led by Lieutenant Colonel Mark Nalda, chief of police, arrested the suspect after he tried to flee from the area.
