LAPU-LAPU City on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, recorded three new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), according to Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan.
In a Facebook post, Chan said the three new cases are residents of Barangays Pusok, Marigondon and Basak.
The latest tally brought the total number of Covid-19 cases in Lapu-Lapu City to 61.
Lapu-Lapu City has been placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) on May 16.
Earlier, the mayor has reminded the public that even as the city is under GCQ, cooperation and constant vigilance is still needed to combat the virus.
"Kananunay kita magbinantayon ug atong pagasundon ang tanang nakabutang sa atong bag-ong executive order," he said.
On Wednesday, the Department of Health reported 279 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 13,221.
Of the 279 new cases, 150 were recorded in the National Capital Region, 14 in Central Visayas and 115 from the different regions of the Philippines.
DOH also announced 89 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,932. (JGS)
