Old man dies after fight with neighbor

AN 80-YEAR-OLD man was found dead after a heated altercation with a lawyer over a parking space on Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Federico Serafin, resident of Regina Compound, Barangay 20-B Poblacion, Davao City.

Investigation conducted by PO2 Marlon Donquilab of Sta. Ana police showed the victim had a heated altercation with lawyer Albert Yap, also a resident of the area.

The old man was brandishing a bladed weapon, which Yap was able to wrangle away from him.

Witnesses Christina Berovilla, Marcial Naraga and Michael Salio said the lawyer left afterwards. The old man was found dead outside his house around 10 a.m.

PO3 Valmores of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) said there is no evidence of foul play in the victim's death although Yap was still brought to the police precinct for investigation.

Meanwhile, two men were brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center (formerly Davao Medical Center) after they were stabbed at 4:45 a.m. Friday along General Luna street in Davao City.

The victims were identified as Juvervon Sitoy, 23, and Angelo Turtor, 25, both park rangers, residents of Purok 8, Barangay 76-A Bucana.

Sitoy sustained a stab wound in the left shoulder, while Turtor was stabbed in the left chest by the group of one Richard Quilla, 31, a resident of Mt. Apo, Barangay 7-A Poblacion.

Based on the blotter of the San Pedro Police Station, the victims were having a drinking spree with one Carmel Bernales at a store behind Gaisano South Mall when they figured in a fight with Quilla's group.

Police recovered a 15-inch knife at the crime scene believed to be owned by the suspect. (AD)
