3 patients recover from Covid-19 in Cagayan de Oro

CAGAYAN de Oro has no active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases as of Thursday, May 21, after three of its asymptomatic patients tested negative for the new virus in their repeat swab.

The three patients are the wife, daughter, and grandchild of patient 6783, the 69-year-old man from Pinikitan, Barangay Camaman-an who died from Covid-19.

Mayor Oscar Moreno said the three are "technically recovered" from Covid-19.

The family will be released from the City Isolation Unit the soonest possible time, city epidemiologist Dr. Joey Retuya said.

Meanwhile, Moreno called on the public to empathize, instead of discriminating the patients as they get ready to reintegrate with the society.

"After everything is said and done, daghan ang experience sa Pinikitan, the anxiety, trauma, that the family went through, ang paningkamot to convince the family na mag quarantine," he said.

"Empathy instead of condemnations. We remind everyone that discrimination is a crime," Moreno said.

Retuya added that once patients are tested negative, they are no longer contagious.

As of Thursday, the city has a total of nine cases, four recovered, and five deaths.
