Power rate in north NegOcc drops, too

LIKE the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco), the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) also has a lower power rate for this month.

The power distribution utility which caters to consumers in the north portion of the province, from E.B. Magalona to San Carlos City, reported a decrease of P0.6240 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in its May billing.

Paulino Almedelia, corporate planning manager of Noneco, said the cooperative’s power rate dropped from P10.7937 per kWh in April to P10.1698 per kWh this month.

Almedelia said the adjustment is attributed to the decrease of P0.3707 per kWh in generation cost due to lower Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) price.

“There are also decreases of P0.1827 in transmission and system loss charges,” he said, adding that other charges also registered a reduction of P0.0706 due to the temporary collection of feed-in-tariff reduction on government taxes.

On Wednesday, Noceco that caters to consumers from Pulupandan to Hinoba-an announced that its power rate for May is P8.5426 per kWh.

The figure is P0.5139 lower compared to its rate of P9.0565 per kWh in April.

The main driver of the lower electricity rates this month is the P0.4653 per kWh reduction in the generation charge which moved from P4.5204 to P4.0551 per kWh.

Noceco noted decreases in generation charge due to the reduction of P0.8813 per kWh with WESM, and P0.0104 per kWh in the power supply agreements with Palm Concepcion Power Corporation and P0.0327 per kWh with Kepco Salcon Power Corporation.

Other factors that contributed to the overall reduction in rates included system loss rate which dropped by P0.0694 per kWh, value added tax (VAT) in generation rate of residential customers, at P0.0005 per kWh, and subsidy rates at P0.0078 per kWh.

For the remaining electric consumers in the province, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has yet to announce its power rate for this month.
