Dole releases cash aid, funds depleted

A TOTAL of 31,618 workers in the formal sector have availed themselves of the one-time P5,000 cash assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment-Central Visayas (Dole 7).

Luchel Taniza, Dole 7 information officer, said the workers are from 1,403 establishments in the region which were able to avail themselves of the assistance under Dole’s Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (Camp).

The Camp is a safety net program offering financial support and employment facilitation to Covid-19 affected workers in private establishments that have adopted flexible work arrangements (FWAs) or temporary closure due to the current pandemic.

Taniza said based on the final outcome, the total collective fund disbursement made by Dole 7 for the Camp amounted to P158,090,000.

Not all establishments in Central Visayas that reported to have implemented FWA or temporarily closed their operations were able to avail themselves of the Camp fund.

“The funds that were downloaded to Region 7 are already depleted,” Taniza said in a mix of Cebuano and English during an online briefing Thursday, May 21, 2020.

Taniza said based on data, the total number of establishments in the region affected by the Covid-19 has reached 8,129.

Of the number, 2,513 are establishments that implemented FWA (reduction of workdays, rotation of workers, and/or forced leave), while 5,616 implemented a temporary closure of operation.

The total number of affected employees reached 210,203. Of this, 93,897 workers are from establishments that implemented FWA, while 116,306 workers are from establishments that temporarily closed. (WBS)
