AT LEAST 817 rice farmers of barangays Prosperidad, Bagonbon, Quezon, Codcod, and Nataban were given P5,000 each as beneficiaries of the Financial Subsidy for Rice Farmers (FSRF) program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The distribution was completed Friday, May 22 at the Landbank of the Philippines for the 2nd batch while the first batch received their share at the covered court of Barangay 1, Thursday, May 21.

Engr. Devitt Dollosa, city agriculturist, said the DA allocated P4,085,000 for the 817 rice farmer beneficiaries in San Carlos City in line with the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL) of the government.

Dollosa added that they are still validating another set of beneficiaries for the next batch and waiting for the DA to release budget for the next distribution.

He also clarified that the program is intended to provide financial assistance to small scale rice farmers who only have one hectare or less of rice plantation and are affected by the 2019 inflation rate.

Said cash assistance aimed at helping farmers purchase farm inputs to regain rice production profitability.

The actual distribution of cash was done by the staff of the Landbank of the Philippines. (PR)
