Talisay drug bust yields P40,000 worth of ‘shabu’

A DRUG bust in Talisay City by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit yielded P40,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) on May 21.

The operation led to the arrest of Rodel Obinque, 43 years old of Barangay Zone 4-A of the same city.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were 21 sachets containing suspected shabu with street value of P40,000, an improvised tooter, P500 drug bust money and cash amounting to 450 pesos.

The suspect is under the custody of Talisay City Police Station and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, seven people were arrested at Purok 8, Brgy Aguisan, Himamaylan City for illegal gambling on May 21.

The suspects were identified as Herman Rivera, 81 years old; Jerry Garganian, 55; Zalmeo Gimotea, 58; Zofronio Aujerp, 38; Anthony Degoma, 35; Rosana Gabileno, 38; Jesus Rasco, 38, all of Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan.

The Himamaylan City Police Station received a call from a concerned citizen of Purok 8, Brgy Aguisan and was informed that there were several persons engaging in playing cards “Pusoy”, “Tong-Its, and Mahjong with bets in the area.

Immediately the Himamaylan police deployed its personnel to the area and caught the suspects in the act of gambling.

Seven of the suspects were arrested while others managed to escape at unknown direction. The arrested persons were brought to the custody of Himamaylan City Police Station. (TDE)
