Business groups urged to boost info drive vs Covid-19

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. is urging the private sector to educate and protect their employees by formulating office guidelines that are aligned with the city government’s guidelines against the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Lazatin made the appeal when he met with mall managers and hotel and restaurant owners in the city on May 14 and May 19 to iron out the guidelines set by the City Government, in accordance with guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and Department of Health (DOH).

He enjoined private establishments to formulate guidelines, in conformity with DOH protocols, which will educate workers to avoid Covid-19.

Lazatin also ordered the private sector to produce information, education and communication (IEC) materials that will aid their employees in preventing the spread of the disease.

Lazatin strictly ordered the wearing of face masks and observance of social distancing within the premises of all establishments, as well as the use of thermal guns to screen all employees and customers who will enter their establishments.

There should also be a regular disinfection of the premises for at least five times a day – once before opening, three times during operating hours and once after closing. He also ordered the installation of hand sanitizing stations in strategic places especially in entry and exit points of every establishments.

Based on the City Government’s guidelines on the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine, all business operations, including “sari-sari” stores, may operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
