FORMER Cebu Provincial Board (PB) member Sergio “Serrie” Restauro passed away due to natural causes on Friday, May 22, 2020. He was 75.
Restauro’s death was confirmed by his son, Talisay City Councilor Gail Restauro, in a post on his Facebook page.
The younger Restauro said just before he died, his father was battling natural body complications after suffering a stroke in 2014.
“He was a pillar of this community--having been a humble public servant. Served the people of the City of Talisay as city councilor for over 10 years and had likewise served the first district of the Province as Provincial Board member,” the younger Restauro added.
On a separate Facebook post, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. fondly remembered Restauro for his political insight when he first ran for congressman of Cebu’s first district in 2010.
“Since I was new to everything, he (Restauro) would give me advice on what to do especially during the campaign period because he was already a veteran at it. After serving in the Talisay Council and the Provincial Board, his advice was very important to me because it came from years of experience,” Gullas said.
Aside from being a public servant, the older Restauro was also known in Talisay for his work as a medical doctor.
Restauro’s wake will be held at his family’s compound in Barangay San Isidro in Talisay City.
The younger Restauro said his family has decided to open the wake to the public during mornings while strictly observing strict physical distancing.
The late PB member is survived by his wife, Barangay San Isidro chief Adelaida Restauro and his two children. (JKV)
