PUI in Magalang tests negative for coronavirus

THE patient under investigation (PUI) in Barangay San Roque Magalang, Pampanga has tested negative for the novel coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2), the pathogen which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The suspected case turned out to be negative for the virus in the real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR) or swab test that had been conducted.

“Ibinalita ng Municipal Health Office na nag-negative ang swab test result ng mortality PUI/suspect ng Barangay San Roque,” the local government (LGU) stated in its official Facebook account.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Government is waiting for the swab test result of another PUI fatality from Barangay Santa Maria.

“Kasalukuyang hinihintay ang swab test result ng mortality PUI/suspect ng Barangay Santa Maria,” the LGU said.

As of Saturday, May 23, the town recorded 53 persons under monitoring (PUM).

The local government, under the leadership of Mayor Romy Pecson, reminded the residents not to be complacent and observe quarantine protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the town.

The residents were asked to stay home, wear face mask when going out of home, observe social distancing, and frequently wash hands with soap.

“Kailangan po ang inyong kooperasyon upang mapigilan ang pagdami pa ng Covid-19 cases,” the LGU told its constituents.

The municipality recorded three confirmed cases of Covid-19 with one death and two recovered as of Saturday, May 23.
