7 nabbed, P220,000 worth of ‘shabu’ seized

SEVEN people were arrested while over P200,000 worth of illegal drugs seized as the police continue its anti-illegal drug operations in Zamboanga City amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis, an official announced Sunday, May 24.

The arrested suspects were identified as Tito Huarto, 39; Nurhasim Alim, 22; Mahmor Rugim, 33; Randy Beltran, 46; Randy Paulino, 33; Roland Dela Peña, 42; and, Andres Pateño, 21.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Huarto and Alim were arrested in possession of some P150,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” coin purse, and P200 marked money in a law enforcement operation around 10 p.m., Saturday, in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.

Galvez said the police operatives recovered from Rugim some P30,000 worth of suspected shabu, a coin purse, and P500 marked money when arrested in a drug bust around 11:30 p.m. in Kasanyangan village, Zamboanga City.

Beltran yielded some P15,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money in an operation around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Johnston Subdivision in San Jose-Cawa-Cawa village, Zamboanga City.

The police official said seized from Paulino were some P3,000 worth of suspected shabu and P300 marked money when nabbed in Tumaga village.

Galvez said dela Peña was caught in possession of P3,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money in an anti-drug operation around 6:50 p.m., Saturday, at Purok 9 in Crossing Santa Clara village, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

She said Pateño was arrested around 6:50 p.m., Saturday, at Purok 2 in Poblacion village, Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were P5,000 worth of suspected shabu, P500 marked money and several drugs paraphernalia.

The arrested suspects were detained while formal charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Philippine)
