Army, suspected rebels clash in Himamaylan

TROOPS of 94th Infantry (MANDIRIGMA) Battalion while conducting community security patrol encountered more or less ten (10) Communist NPA Terrorists at Brgy. Buenavista Himamaylan City on May 22, 2020.

The exchange of fires lasted for about 5 minutes, after which the Communist Terrorist Group withdrew in different directions, the army report said.

No casualty on government side while the army claimed several casualties were suffered by the NPA as indicated by the bloodstains found along their route of withdrawal.

The troops were able to recover at the encounter site one backpack with personal belongings, medical paraphernalia including three stubs of anti-pregnancy pills, food stuffs, five booklets, subversive documents, camouflage t-shirt and other personal belongings.

Additional troops were deployed to conduct pursuit operations against the fleeing NPA Terrorists.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander said that "The presence of contraceptive pills recovered among the personal belongings clearly indicates the sexual abuses on female NPA members and recruits. It clearly manifest the ongoing and rampant sexual abuses among their ranks especially by NPA commanders against their female members"

“Once again, I urge all female NPA combatants and their recruits to abandon their group and to return to their respective family. Don't let the NPA leaders take advantage of you sexually. NPA leaders are just making you their sex slaves. Abandon them and our government will ensure your brighter future through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP)," he said.

"This encounter is a result of the information given to us by the populace who notice the presence of the Communist Terrorist Group in the area. It manifest the losing support of the CNTs among the populace who are fed up with the lies and deception of the NPA Terrorists. It clearly shows that they are not welcome in the community anymore". Pasaporte added.
