3 most wanted persons arrested in Eastern Visayas

AT LEAST three most wanted persons were arrested in separate police operations in Eastern Visayas on May 20 and May 25, the Police Regional Office reported.

On Monday, May 25, operatives arrested 36-year-old farmer Freddie "Pisoy" Camayse, a resident of Barangay Bunacan, San Julian, Eastern Samar.

Camayse is the number 10 most wanted person (provincial level), number five drug personality in Eastern Samar, and high-value individual (regional level) of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Eastern Visayas.

He was arrested around 4:50 a.m. Monday, May 25, in Barangay Balacdas, Borongan City by Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (ESPPO-PIU) led by Major Herbert Joey Grata under the supervision of Colonel Carlito Abriz, ESPPO provincial director.

Camayse was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest for robbery, child sexual abuse, and violation of section 261 (q) of the Omnibus Election Code for carrying firearms outside residence or place of business.

The warrants were issued by Judge Elvie Lim of Branch 1 and Judge Nathaniel Baldono of Branch 2, Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Borongan City.

On Monday afternoon, personnel from Maydolong Police Station led by Major Aldo Mendiola arrested Benjie Detalo, 36, a resident of Barangay Maybocog, Maydolong, Eastern Samar.

He was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest dated April 7, 2009 for attempted murder. Judge Lim issued the warrant with recommended bail of P120,000.

In Tacloban City, police arrested 32-year-old Liza Pagtabunan, a resident of the city.

Listed as number three most wanted person (city level), Pagtabunan was facing a warrant of arrest dated March 10, 2020 for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

She was nabbed on May 20 by joint operatives of Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO)-City Intelligence Unit led by Major Leonides Sydiongco, TCPO tracker team and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) led by Captain Winrich Laya Lim, TCPO-Police Station 1 led by Major Edwin CaƱamaque, Regional Intelligence Unit led by Lieutenant Herbert Alvarico, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Biliran Provincial Field Unit led by Chief Master Sergeant Sandy Acuin.

Judge Georgina Uy-Perez of RTC Branch 6-(45) in Tacloban issued the warrant of arrest with no bail recommended. (SunStar Philippines)
