P90,000 weed uprooted in Mountain Province

SOME 230 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted by joint elements of the Sagada Municipal Police Office (SMPS), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cordillera and the 54th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (PA) on May 24.

In a report, the Sagada police said it received a report from a concerned citizen, telling the police that marijuana plants were seen in two sites in Sitio Ayos, Fedilisan, Sagada, Mountain Province.

The marijuana plants, with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P92,000, were planted in a lot covering 60 square meters.

The first site is a 50-square-meter area, while the second site is a 10-square-meter plot of land.

On May 19, two individuals were arrested by Tinglayan Police Station in Kalinga Province.

Four sacks containing 36 pieces of dried marijuana stalks and leaves wrapped with transparent plastic amounting to P4.3 million were confiscated by authorities.
