THE Department of Health (DOH) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded two new recoveries from Benguet and one in Ifugao, bringing the total number of recoveries in the region to 41, as of May 25.
DOH recorded four Covid-19 cases in the region: two in Baguio City and two in Benguet.
Out of the 46 Covid-19 cases in the region, 41 already recovered, one died, and four still admitted, while the provinces of Apayao, Kalinga and Mt. Province remain Covid-free.
On Monday, May 25, the 30-year-old male patient from Ifugao also recovered.
Over the weekend, Benguet officials and Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) medical frontliners conducted a send-off ceremony to the 24-year-old female survivor who underwent a month of confinement and eventually recovered from the coronavirus infection.
In Baguio City, officials and the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) also held a send-off ceremony to another male patient from La Trinidad who recovered from the virus.
To boost testing capacity against Covid-19 in the province, an Automated RNA Extractor and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine to process specimens from Covid-19 patients were donated by Benguet caretaker, Representative Eric Go Yap.
Yap will donate the machines to BeGH, but for the meantime, in absence of an adequate facility in the hospital, the BeGH will execute a memorandum of agreement with BGHMC, which is the only Covid-19 testing center in the Cordillera region.
Under the agreement, the Baguio General Hospital will conduct testing using the machines but will allocate a certain number of tests per day for Benguet residents until such time that BeGH is ready with their own testing site.
