THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) is providing access to the internet for students in Pampanga as support to those who are taking online classes amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

During the Network Briefing News on Radyo Pilipinas with Presidential Communication Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar, SK Pampanga Federation President Gabriel Moshe Lacson discussed their involvement in the education campaign of the national government in online schooling.

"After the enhanced community quarantine was implemented, we encountered some problems especially among students with regards to accessibility to internet connection, so what we did here in Pampanga, those SK councils with the capabilities to do so, provided venues with internet connections within their barangays in order to address problem," he said.

Lacson said some funding of the program comes from the own pocket of SK officials with the help of their partner organizations from the private sector.

"We are for continuous learning during the pandemic. However, we do believe the welfare of the students should be given importance," he said.

He added that SK officials should actively cooperate with the national government and local government units in order to mitigate the adverse effects of the health crisis. (PIA)
