Lockdown extended in Nacau, Heramil

THE Municipality of Minglanilla has extended the lockdown of two privately-owned compounds after the relatives of a previous coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case tested positive for the virus.

Mayor Elanito Peña said they decided on Saturday, May 23, 2020, to extend the lockdown imposed on Nacau and Heramil compounds in Sitio Lipata, Barangay Linao.

After receiving the report on the fourth Covid-19 positive case--a woman who died of cancer--in the town, the municipal government took swab samples from relatives who had visited and attended the wake, including those who had direct contact with the patient.

Peña said 14 out of 16 swab samples tested positive for Covid-19.

The first seven test results were released on May 23, another three last May 24, and four more on May 25.

The fourth patient was a 38-year-old female, who had stage four colon cancer. She died on May 9, 2020.

According to Peña, the patients were taken to a Covid-19 facility. All of them were asymptomatic.

Contact tracing of the 14 new cases are ongoing. Those who have been identified are in the barangay isolation center.

Peña said that they have disinfected the two compounds.

Another positive case from Lower Calajo-an was also logged, a 50-year-old male assigned in a police station in Cebu City.

To date, the Municipality has a total of 21 positive cases with one death and one recovery. (JCT)
