THE Cebu City Quarantine Center (CCQC) at Block 27 in North Reclamation Area, Cebu City will start admitting symptomatic patients infected with the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, confirmed Cebu City Medical Center Administrator Yvonne Feliciano.

The CCQC can house up to 160 Covid-19 positive patients who have mild to moderate symptoms of the disease.

The start of the operation got delayed due to the requirements the Cebu City Government had to comply with, said Feliciano.

The CCQC was blessed on April 25 after the building was completed, but the City processed the requirements for the certificate to operate set by the Department of Health (DOH) for a month.

Some of the requirements they needed to comply with were the water tanks, area for doffing and donning, generator set, among others, said Feliciano.

“We have to carefully comply because we are talking of symptomatic Covid patients. We also have to make sure that our staff is safe,” said Feliciano.

The negative pressure quarantine facility is now equipped with hospital beds, oxygen, basic laboratory, portable x-ray, among others, she said.

Feliciano said nine doctors and 50 nurses will be assigned in the area.

A headquarters was also built beside the quarantine facility for the health workers.

The quarantine facility was “guaranteed” to be built in 10 days during a press conference on March 19.

The building was finished on April 25 and blessed on the same day with a short ceremony. (JJL)
