Health worker positive for coronavirus; barangay on lockdown

THE local government of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon has placed one of its barangays under lockdown after a health worker who resides in the village tested positive for the new virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday, May 25.

In a press release on its Facebook page, the local government said the lockdown in Barangay Sto. Niño will be until May 27. The town's municipal health office has also been shut down temporarily for the disinfection procedure.

"It is not a question of if but rather a question of when. Karong adlawa gikasubo ko pagpahibalo sa katawhan sa lungsod sa Manolo Fortich nga mitala na sa medical bulletin sa DOH Northern Mindanao ang unang kaso sa Covid-19 sa atong lungsod. Atong himuon ang tanan aron masiguro nga luwas ang katawhan ug ma-contain ang kaso sa labing maayo ug dali nga paagi (Today, I'm sorry to inform the people of Manolo Fortich that DOH-Northern Mindanao has recorded the first case of Covid-19 in our town. We will do everything to ensure the safety of all and to contain the case in the most immediate and best way possible)," Mayor Clive Quiño was quoted as saying.

Quiño has urged the people of Manolo to follow the quarantine guidelines and stay at home.

The 45-year-old health worker from Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon is the second Covid-19 case in Bukidnon province and the 24th case across the region.

Suba-an said the new Covid patient has pre-existing condition -- hypertension. He is asymptomatic and receiving treatment at one of the quarantine facilities in the province. (PJO)
