MANILA-- A recent survey of the Social Weather Station shows that eight of 10 Filipinos or 81 percent trust the accuracy and functionality of the automated elections.

Majority of the respondents said the first ever national automated elections provides an easier process since voters no longer manually write the names of the candidates because it is already listed in the ballots.

More than 80 percent also believes that the result of the automation is more accurate and speedy compared to the manual counting, the survey stated.

Meanwhile, 48 percent of the respondents said that public protest is inevitable if failure of elections occur and no new president will be declared to replace President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's post, which will be vacated by the end of June. (Sunnex)
