BARANGAY Agdao Proper is now classified as one of the seven “very high risk” barangays in Davao City due to a significant number of cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The City Government of Davao on Tuesday, May 26, updated its classification of barangays in the city (as of May 25) with Agdao Proper replacing 21-C in the very high risk barangays classification. Also tagged as very high risk barangays are 23-C, Bucana, Buhangin Proper, Cabantian, Leon Garcia, and Talomo Proper.

Barangay 21-C is currently classified under “moderate risk barangays”.

Meanwhile, in the updated list, the city bared its current “high risk barangays”, namely 55-A, 19-B, Catalunan Grande, Maa, Matina Crossing, and Tigatto.

In close proximity to very high risk barangays are also classified under high risk barangays. These are 1-A, 15-B, 26-C, 31-D, 39-D, 40-D, Bago Aplaya, and Kapt. Monteverde, Sr.

Aside from Barangay 21-C, other moderate risk barangays include the following: 3-A; 8-A; 10-A; 11-B; 12-B; 13-B; 14-B; 20-B; 21-C; 22-C; 27-C; 34-Dv Angliongto; Bago Gallera; Bago Oshiro; Baliok; Calinan Proper; Catalunan Pequeño; Centro (San Juan, Agdao); Communal; Daliao; Gov. Bangoy; Gov. Duterte; Ilang; Indangan; Langub; Lapu-Lapu; Mabuhay (Paquibato); Matina Aplaya; Matina Pangi; Mintal; Pampanga; Panacan; Saloy; Sasa; Sto. Niño; Tacunan; Talomo River; Toril Proper; Vicente Hizon, Sr.; and Wilfredo Aquino.

In close proximity to high risk barangays are also classified as moderate risk barangays. These are 2-A; 6-A; Magtuod; Mandug; and Waan.

All other barangays not mentioned are automatically considered as low risk barangays.

The classification of barangays, according to an issued statement of the City Government, said is identified following the lifting of the district clustering that strictly limits the travel from one cluster to another.

The lifting of the clustering system is implemented through Executive Order No. 33 (EO) placing the entire city under general community quarantine (GCQ), as recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

However, the City Government advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel to areas identified to be very high risk, high risk and moderate risk based on the risk assessment made, including public markets (palengke), supermarkets, and all other establishments under these areas.

“Whenever possible, everyone is strongly urged to also avoid going to the malls, banks, hospitals, churches, and all other areas where people meet, congregate, or gather because of the higher chance of getting/contracting the virus,” the City Government said in an advisory.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on Tuesday, May 26, that she has yet to get an update on the number of Covid-19 positive individuals residing in areas labeled as very high risk although the mayor said the City Government is using a formula in its Covid-19 risk assessment map posted on the city government’s website.

In very high risk areas, among the factors used are the following: the population density is greater than 800 and active cases is greater than or equal to three cases; total confirmed cases is greater than or equal to 10 cases; attack rate per 1,000 population is greater than two; and the behavioral index, comprising the number of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) violations and number of 911 calls responded that can influence going out or crowding of persons, is greater than 200 cases.
