THE Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion seized a third Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) hideout in Sitio Mabunga of Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City on May 24, after two weeks of combat clearing operations.

Lieutenant Colonel Angelo Guzman, 94th IB commander, said the newly discovered hideout can accommodate at least 100 CNTs and could possibly be used for training recruits. It has three security outposts, battle positions, a noticeable formation area, makeshift classrooms, kitchen, barracks, and some improvised training facilities. A solar panel, training materials, and paraphernalia were also recovered.

On May 13, operating troops discovered a CNT hideout at Sitio Bunsad where an IED and AK-47 ammunition were recovered.

Another CNT hideout was discovered at Sitio Lower Olitao on May 23.

The areas are part of Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City.

“These discoveries are indicative that Barangay Buenavista is frequented by the CNTs. Such presence is detrimental to the progress of that barangay and consequently, of Himamaylan City as a whole,” said 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Inocencio I Pasaporte. (TDE)
