THE minor who reportedly tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, the pathogen which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) was cleared.
This was according to Apalit town Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco Jr., who said the patient has tested negative on the confirmatory test conducted by the Department of Health (DOH).
The development in the patient’s status, however, is yet to be reflected in the records of the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, as Monday’s data showed that the town still has one active Covid-19 case.
The mayor said the patient’s father, who works in a supermarket here, has also tested negative for the virus.
It could be remembered that the girl tested positive on the rapid anti-body test conducted by DOH under its random testing and mass survey program.
The said result, which sowed panic among residents here, prompted the local government to implement a total lockdown in the Purok 4 of Barangay Sampaloc where the patient and her relatives reside.
The policy has been lifted but certain measures are still in place to safeguard the community, Tetangco said.
The reopening of the supermarket where the patient’s father work is yet to be announced.
Amid the positive development, Tetangco urged Apaliteños to always wear face mask, practice personal hygiene, and observe social distancing to prevent contracting the disease.
He added the local government continue to implement precautionary measures such as regular disinfection of public places and enforcement of curfew to protect the community from the dreaded disease.
