City Health reports 626 new arrivals since March

THE City Health Office (CHO) has recorded a total of 626 new arrivals in Cagayan de Oro from March 30 to May 25, seven of which have manifested mild respiratory symptoms, Emergency Operation Center head Lorraine Nery said on Tuesday, May 26.

Among the seven individuals who manifested acute respiratory illness (ARI), one was tested positive for the new virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). The patient is a 26-year-old man from Iligan City.

Nery said the coronavirus-positive man is included in their data as he was quarantined at the city isolation unit together with the other six individuals.

She added that of the six, five have been tested negative for the virus, while one is still waiting for the RT-PCR result.

"Padayon nato sila nga gina-monitor lalo na ang ilang health status for any development sa ARI nila nga symptoms," Nery said.

Of the 626 new arrivals, Nery said 192 of them are still under their 14-day quarantine period. Some of them were in the city isolation units while the others are at their homes.

The new arrivals include locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Mayor Oscar Moreno said the OFWs, prior to boarding their vessels going back to their respective hometown, were required to undergo RT-PCR testing and should have their result read negative.

"Before mosakay sa vehicle going to their provinces, they will have to undergo RT-PCR test, dili lang rapid test," Moreno said.

Individuals stranded in Cagayan de Oro, on the other hand, will have to undergo 14-day quarantine before they will be given a barangay certification from their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (Bherts).

Once they have their medical certificate, they will be sent home to their respective original residences.

The certification, Nery said are for free. X-rays are also not required from LSIs.

"We are in the premise nga once nag-quarantine na sila from their barangay and cleared sila, wala sila na-report nga nag manifest sila og signs and symptoms of ARI, they are supposed to be well individuals nga nagkuha og medical certificate," Nery said.
