AROUND 157 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have so far returned to their respective towns and cities in Misamis Oriental through sweeper trips and repatriation flights.

According to the Provincial Task Force for Covid-19, six flights carrying the returning OFWs arrived at the Laguindingan Airport since Monday, May 25. One hundred four of the passengers are from Misamis Oriental.

Fifty-three OFWs returned through sweeper trips and arrived at the Cagayan de Oro Port in different schedules since last week.

The Provincial Government assured that the returning OFWs underwent appropriate health protocols and yielded negative Covid-19 test results before boarding the vessel or aircraft.

Task Force spokesperson lawyer Jeffrey Saclot said from the seaport and airport, rescue vehicles safely transported the returning OFWs to the designated quarantine facilities of their hometowns.

Saclot said they will be quarantined for 14 days in the local government unit (LGU)-established facility or home depending on the LGU.

"In MisOr, they need to quarantine. Pwede home kung naa separate room with comfort room or sa LGU facility," Saclot said.

The provincial task force and the towns' local chief executives assured that those who will undergo the 14-day quarantine are comfortable inside the facility.

Saclot said most of the quarantine centers in Misamis Oriental are intentionally built to serve the purpose, while others are staying inside schools.

"Gisiguro nato nga maayo ang ilang condition," Saclot said.
