Mabalacat City logs 9th Covid-19 case

MABALACAT City has recorded its ninth coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case and the patient is from Madapdap Resettlement Center in Barangay Dapdap.

In its May 25 bulletin, the City Health Office (CHO) stated that the 56-year-old female patient had a travel history and developed respiratory symptoms.

The patient had her initial swab test done on May 7, 2020 and a positive result was released on May 14, 2020.

Upon receiving the report from the Regional Epidemiologic and Surveillance Unit (Resu), the Rural Health Unit 3 in Madapdap and the Dapdap Barangay Health Emergency Response Team conducted contact tracing to establish the identities of persons the patient had associated with.

The patient's relatives and friends were advised to undergo a 14-day home quarantine.

On May 16, the patient was transferred to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional General Hospital.

On May 20, the patient's third Covid-19 swab test result was released turned out negative and was discharged from the hospital the following day.

"All close contacts of the patient had negative Covid-19 tests using RT-PCR. All appropriate disinfection was conducted," the CHO stated.

As of May 24, the City Government recorded nine confirmed cases of Covid-19: three in Barangay Dau, two in Mabiga, one in Dapdap, one in Tabun, one in Bundagul, and one in Santa Ines.

The CHO said it provides minimal information of the Covid-19 cases in the city in accordance with the guidelines of Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act and the Department of Health memorandum circular.
