THE City government of San Fernando has installed handwashing stations to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

"The Environmental Health and Sanitation Division of the City Health Office and the City's Task Force Water, Sanitation and Hygiene launched the project in line with the recommendation of the World Health Organization to promote handwashing. They installed lavatories with liquid soaps in various public markets and checkpoints," Mayor Edwin Santiago said during Monday's episode of Network Briefing News on Radyo Pilipinas, which was hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar.

The City Government also issued on May 14 health pass to essential workers as part of the intensified efforts in reporting, monitoring and contact tracing for possible Covid-19 patients as restrictions are gradually eased under modified enhanced community quarantine.

"The health pass serves as a bi-weekly clearance of an essential worker to determine his/her capability to report for work," Santiago said.

Apart from this, San Fernando also adopted the use of online application StaySafe.ph.

"Companies and individual workers are required to use the app because the result of this will be the basis of the issuance of their health passes," the official said. (PIA)
