AN EX-CONVICT who was just recently released from the New Bilibid Prison was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified men in Danao, Cebu on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. The suspects were wearing face masks, onboard a sport utility vehicle.
The 35-year-old ex-convict was declared dead on arrival at the Danao Provincial Hospital after having been shot thrice.
The victim was identified as Juanito Flores Ole, a resident of Sitio Caputatan, Brgy. Guinacot, Danao, Cebu.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Fernando Gonzales, desk officer of the Danao Police Station, the victim was buying banana cue at around 4 p.m. on May 26 in Brgy. Poblacion, Danao, when suddenly two armed men arrived.
Without a word, the suspects shot the victim thrice, resulting in the latter’s death. By the time the victim fell on the ground, the suspects had escaped via a gray Montero Sport.
Ole was shot on his arms and at the back of his head.
He was rushed to the hospital in Danao but was declared dead on arrival by the doctor in charge.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maribel Getigan, Chief of the Danao Police Station, said as of now, they are still figuring out who the people are behind this crime.
Getigan's investigators are still gathering information from witnesses to identify the gunmen and their motive behind this incident.
They are also considering personal conflict between the two parties as the reason.
Getigan checked CCTV (closed circuit television) footage in the area and commanded the investigators to conduct a back tracking on Ole’s cases to get them started with their investigation.
"We still don't know what their motive was, but from the crime scene, we recovered a cellphone which we still have to submit to the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 7," said Getigan.
Ole’s wife who is a lawyer, has not yet cooperated with and revealed to the authorities what crimes the ex-convict committed. (AYB, MMC)
