A 49-YEAR-OLD female resident of Barangay Kauswagan has been found positive for the novel coronavirus, becoming the 13th confirmed case of infection in Cagayan de Oro City.

The woman has been admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) for fever and cough. She has diabetes and hypertension.

NMMC medical specialist Bernard Rocha said the woman is oxygenated and stable.

Rocha said the woman had traveled to Cebu.

On May 16, she tested negative for the novel coronavirus, or Sars-CoV-2, the pathogen that causes coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

On May 21, Rocha said the woman had dinner with four individuals who allegedly tested positive for the virus but did not show any symptoms of the disease.

The woman traveled back to Cagayan de Oro on May 24 and arrived on May 25.

She complained of a non-productive cough associated with colds and throat itchiness and was brought to the City Isolation Unit (CIU).

At the CIU, she developed a 38.4 degrees Celsius fever and was tested again for the virus.

She was transferred to the NMMC after her test yielded a positive result for Sars-CoV-2.
