San Luis logs 2nd Covid-19 case

SAN LUIS town logged its second case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Saturday, May 30, 2020, only a day after it confirmed its first infection.

Mayor Jayson Sagum said the patient, a male in his early 20's, is an employee of a national government agency in Manila.

Sagum disclosed that the patient was required to be tested for the disease on May 19 as part of the contact tracing protocols since his immediate supervisor was confirmed infected of the virus.

However, the patient went home about a week prior to the release of his results on May 27, which turned out to be positive.

"According to the patient, he was only sleeping in their office and since it needed to be sanitized, he opted to go home here in San Luis," Sagum said.

"The problem here is he did not coordinated with the barangay and Municipal Health Office about his situation so we were not able to monitor him and his family," the mayor added.

Sagum said the local government had conducted thorough contact tracing and required the patient and his family to undergo home quarantine.

The local chief executive said he is in close-coordination with the Department of Health for updates on the situation of the patient.
