Neighbor of dead Covid patient tests positive for coronavirus

A 59-YEAR-OLD female from Macanhan, Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro is the newest confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the city after she tested positive for Sars-CoV-2.

There are now 14 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the city.

Emergency Operation Center head Dr. Lorraine Nery on Monday, June 1, said the 59-year-old woman was a neighbor of the dead Covid patient from Macanhan.

"Akong ipasabot sa publiko nga kani nga 14th nato nga confirmed case naa ni sya sa atong gi-contain na daan nga area didto sa Macanhan," Nery said.

According to Nery, the woman was detected following a report that a family of five showed acute respiratory illness (ARI) and influenza-like illness (ILI) symptoms.

All five of them were tested using the rapid diagnostic testing last Saturday, May 30. Only one of them had her result read inconclusive.

They were then tested using the RT-PCR and only the 59-year-old woman's result read positive while the four others were negative.

At present, the woman is staying in the city isolation unit (CIU) and is asymptomatic.

Due to the new Covid-positive case, Nery said they will extend the full focused containment in Macanhan, Barangay Carmen up to June 19.

"Magpadayon ta sa atong focused containment in that area, we will still continue with our full focused containment in that area and ato na syang i-extend kay supposedly this June 5 mahuman na unta ang kanang containment dinha but since we have a new case na, we will extend the full focused containment up to June 19," Nery said.
