10 San Fernando cops placed in Isolation

TEN police officers in San Fernando, southern Cebu are isolating themselves inside the town’s police station after they were exposed to an arrested person who tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019.

On Sunday, May 31, 2020, the police officers were swabbed and they have yet to receive the results; Cebu Police Provincial Office Director P/Col. Roderick Mariano placed the police station on lockdown—no one is allowed to go inside and outside the facility.

A team was also deployed to trace the persons who had been in contact with the police officers in the past days.

Mariano, in an interview, assured the police can still respond to any alarm. He said there was a separate team formed to conduct anti-criminality drives and it is composed of personnel not directly exposed to the detainee.

The Covid-19-positive detainee was brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for treatment. (AYB, MMC)
