2 fishermen test positive for coronavirus in Negros Oriental

TWO of the 164 fishermen in Negros Oriental who are under quarantine in a government-designated patient care center (PCC) tested positive for the new virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Dr. Liland Estacion, assistant provincial health officer, said the asymptomatic patients are a 30-year-old male from Ayungon, Negros Oriental and a 48-year-old male from Samboan, Cebu. They were on board the Philip D.R. vessel from Palawan.

Estacion said the two new Covid-19 cases reported in Negros Oriental are not the result of local transmission.

There will be no need for contact tracing, as authorities have contained the two positive fishermen at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City, Estacion said.

They are now under isolation at the Covid-19 ward of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City.
