A TOTAL of 1,504,018 indigent families in Central Luzon received their financial assistance under the Emergency Subsidy Program (ESP) of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

This is 99.21 percent of the total target of 1,515,847 families who are not beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in the region.

"Each indigent family-beneficiary received P6,500 which was based on our prevailing minimum wage," DSWD Regional Director Marites Maristela said.

Based on the latest figures, total amount paid to the beneficiaries is P9,776,117,000.

"Out of the 130 city and municipal governments in the region, 121 have 100 percent accomplishment, eight declared completed but not fully utilized the Transfer of Fund due to lack of eligible beneficiaries and one still needs to complete their payout," Maristela added.

The provision of the financial assistance is part of the Social Amelioration Program of the National Government pursuant to Republic Act 11469, otherwise known as the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. (PIA)
