NO PERSONS are allowed to leave from or enter Zone 9, Phase 1, Sitio Macanhan, Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City after Mayor Oscar Moreno issued Monday, June 1, an executive order (EO) for the conduct of a focused containment in the area.

Authorized persons outside of residence (Apor) and those who need to go out for a strictly essential purpose are the only persons allowed to leave their homes. However, those below 21 years old and 60 years and above are prohibited from going outside.

The order was created following the new case of Covid-19 involving a 59-year-old female who resided in Macanhan, Barangay Carmen, and the neighbor of the dead first Covid patient in the area.

The woman is the 14th confirmed case in Cagayan de Oro City and the fourth Covid-positive person from Sitio Macanhan.

There are now a total of four Covid-19 cases in the sitio, with one fatality.

The EO enables the City Health Office, together with the Carmen Barangay Health Emergency Team and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), to conduct intensive contact tracing and surveillance of all residents in the area and cause the isolation of the persons with Covid-like symptoms.

Other guidelines for the conduct of the focused quarantine involves checkpoints in all entry and exit points of Sitio Macanhan, strict implementation of the minimum health standards and the observance of the non-pharmaceutical interventions to combat Covid-19 transmission.

Affected households will also be provided by the City Government with their food requirements and other basic needs during the focused containment or quarantine.

Emergency Operations Center head Dr. Lorraine Nery said the focused containment will be up until June 19.
