Lizada: Quarantine thoughts

HONESTLY, I do not know what it is. In mall escalators, you see the reminder Walk Left and Stand Right. You think that this would be a simple rule. In some countries, that would be a cinch. Not here. You still see people violating a very simple rule. Not that we are stupid because I see all sorts of people some even professionals who do not follow this very elementary rule. That is why this social distancing rule at this time is a big fat lie. If one cannot distinguish left from right, it will be too much to ask to maintain distance. That is why when, and not if this virus spreads in alarming numbers, we can only blame the idiots who cannot follow simple rules.

I am getting confused. I have been watching a lot of K dramas nowadays that somehow all these actors appear in almost the shows that I see. And that is why when I start a new series, my phone is beside me so that when a familiar face appears, I go "saan gani yan sya" and then I search for the name. I have to do that because it will bother me if I do not. It must be my age or just me but I need to find out the name. Another thing about K dramas is there is so much food that I literally salivate. When I was watching Reply 1994, there was so much food in that series that I almost went out to buy whatever they were eating. By the way as of this writing, I am watching My Secret Terrius. Please do not suggest titles to me because I have seen a ton already.

Talking about movies, I have watched so many also. We just finished all the Fast and Furious films. Right now, we are in the middle of all the Marvel movies and mind you, we are watching it in the proper order. (That is what happens when you are in quarantine!) We also finished the last three Star Wars films. And for me, I have watched a lot and when a lot, I mean exactly that, of black and white films of the 40s and 50s. And oh yes, a lot of cowboy films that my wife flatly refuses to binge with me.

Finally this. In the Game of Thrones, there is line that goes: "Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it." How apt for today. In this pandemic, we have seen the best and the worst and unfortunately, the worst is upon us now. You know when people are in denial, things get complicated. Just look around. People are told to go out not because it is safe but because if we do not, the economy will collapse and with that everything else will.

It is still about materialism and money. It is still about worldly things. And that is sad. We should have learned better. But no. The economy will not save us. We cannot even save ourselves. For me, only God can save us. We pay too much attention to things of this world. The one thing that can save us is not in this world. Think about it, God, if He wanted to can eradicate this virus. Right now.

Seek God first.

With that, I say haeng-un-eul bibnida. Good luck.
