Police nab Leyte top most wanted

A JOINT police operation resulted in the arrest of the top most wanted person in Leyte province Wednesday morning, June 3.

The accused, Ben Junia, 40, laborer, was nabbed at his residence in Barangay San Roque, Tolosa, Leyte through a warrant of arrest dated March 10, 2020.

He is facing charges for qualified rape and lascivious conduct under Republic Act (RA) 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Emelinda Maquilan, assisting judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 7 (Family Court) in Eastern Visayas, issued the warrant of arrest, with no recommended bail bond on qualified rape and P200,000 each case for lascivious conduct.

The arrest was made by operating units from Tolosa Municipal Police Station led by Captain Bernardo Arcena, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Leyte headed by Lieutenant Colonel Demosthenes Magnaan, PIT Leyte, RIU-8 led by Lieutenant Rolan Maceda, Naval Forces Central, and Central Command in Cebu City.
