Capitol, air carriers set up protocols for resumption of flights

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has discussed with representatives of airline companies the protocols that should be followed by passengers when arriving at the Bacolod-Silay Airport, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

For passengers from Negros Occidental who would go to Manila, the Provincial Incident Management Team advises that first they have to secure health certificate from the local health office and get a travel authority from the PNP.

Commercial flights from Manila to Negros Occidental will resume on June 8.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said there will be a scanner to check the body temperature of all inbound and outbound passengers.

Arriving passengers will then proceed to undergo the RT- PCR swab test.

A "run through" of the sequence was done at the airport.

Lacson also thanked the airline companies for their cooperation with the provincial government.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said that they have asked the three airlines to bring just 1,000 passengers per week at least for the month of June.

This will ensure that swab specimens can be taken from all incoming passengers for Covid-19 testing, he said

Aside from the swab testing, incoming passengers will have to pass through thermal scanners to ensure that they do not have fever and undergo physical screening for Covid-19 symptoms, Diaz pointed out.

Those with Covid-19 flu-like symptoms will immediately be isolated, while the rest will be allowed to go home, he added.

Diaz said he also met with the Bacolod Inter-agency Task Force to discuss joint efforts against the Covid-19 threat, he said.
