1 of 16 San Fernando police tests positive for Covid-19

ONE of the 16 police personnel from the town of San Fernando in Cebu who were isolated and tested for Covid-19 via swabbing tested positive and has joined the police from Cebu City who are housed at the Don Vicente Rama National High School.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Chief Police Colonel Roderick Mariano said the swab test results of the 16 police personnel from San Fernando had just been released and one came out positive.

The police officer who tested positive was immediately brought to the isolation center in Cebu City, where personnel from the Cebu City Police Office are also staying and waiting for one more result to come out negative.

Mariano said the San Fernando police officer is also asymptomatic, just like the Cebu City police personnel who tested positive.

Because of this, Mariano had the whole San Fernando police station disinfected, and it is expected to reopen in the coming days.

The police personnel of San Fernando are temporarily holding office in the municipal hall to receive complaints from residents.

As of writing, there are two police personnel from Cebu Province who tested positive for Covid-19. One of them was assigned in the pink room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

However, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said the recovery rate of the police personnel from Central Visayas who tested positive for Covid-19 has increased to 35.41 percent.

Based on the records of the Regional Health Service, there are 48 police personnel who have tested positive for Covid-19.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joan Sia, officer-in-charge of the Regional Health Service, 46 of the 48 who tested positive for Covid-19 are quarantined in the isolation and recovery facility of the Philippine National Police, while one is in a private hospital due to complications and the last one is in home quarantine.

These police personnel are under the careful watch of the medical team of PRO 7, under the order of Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, who promised that they will be assisted until they fully recover. (AYB with CBQ)
