8 'wanted persons' arrested in Eastern Visayas

AT LEAST two most wanted and six other wanted persons were arrested in separate police operations in Eastern Visayas on May 28 and June 2.

In Palo, Leyte, police nabbed Antonio Versoza, 48, and Jomar Menesses Roca, 33, both construction workers and listed as number 1 and 2 most wanted persons in the town.

They were arrested on June 2 by virtue of warrant issued by Judge Altone Mirales of Regional Trial Court (RTC)-Branch 8 for carnapping charges, with no bail recommended.

On May 28, Leyte Municipal Police arrested Benjie Arcabal, 28, jobless, and a resident of Tabango, Leyte.

Judge Mario Quinit of RTC-Branch 17 in Palompon, Leyte, issued the warrant, with no recommended bail bond.

In Ormoc City, a 24-year-old fish vendor was arrested for qualified theft in Barangay Linao.

Muath Atili, single and resident of the said barangay, was nabbed by virtue of a warrant dated February 8, 2017 and issued by Judge Clinton Nuevo of RTC-Branch 12 in Ormoc. Recommended bail bond for accused was P44,000.

Also on May 28, police arrested Rogelio Dublin, 50, single, jobless, and a resident of Calbayog City, Samar.

Judge Noel Sermense of Municipal Trial Circuit Court in Calbayog issued the warrant dated July 22, 2019 for two counts of attempted homicide, with a recommended bail bond of P36, 000.00 for each case.

Police in Albuera, Leyte nabbed 61-year-old farmer Cornelio Gomez on May 28.

He was arrested by virtue of warrant dated July 26, 2005, for homicide which was issued by Judge Crisostomo Garido of RTC-Branch 36 in Carigara, Leyte, with a recommended bail bond of P60,000.

The accused was brought to Leyte Municipal Police Station for documentation prior turnover to the court of origin.

In Hilongos, Leyte, a 38-year-old laborer was arrested for drug charges.

Police identified the accused as Jose Emmanuel Porazo, married, a resident of the said town.

He was arrested by virtue of a warrant dated March 2, 2020 and issued by Ephrem Abando, executive judge of RTC-Branch 18 in Hilongos. No bail bond was recommended to the accused.

Also on May 28, police arrested Adriano Acuyan, 45, single, jobless and a resident of Laoang, Northern Samar.

He was nabbed by virtue of a warrant dated September 23, 2019, for violation of section 32 of Republic Act (RA) 7166, otherwise known as the "Synchronized National and Local Elections and Electoral. Reforms Act."

The warrant was issued by Judge Alma Consuelo Deasles-Esidera of RTC-Branch 22 in Laoang, with a recommended bail bond of P60,000. (SunStar Philippines)
